Ages 2–5
Dancin’ with Mommy
2–3 years – Students must be accompanied by parent or guardian.
45 Minute Class is limited to seven (7) students
A special class designed for 2 year olds and their moms. This 45 minute class is filled with creative dances and activities sure to bring the joy of dance into the heart of the child.
Pre-Dance I
3–4 years – Students must be potty-trained (no exceptions)
60 Minute Class is limited to ten (10) students
Pre-Dance I consists of an introduction to Pre-Ballet, while increasing body awareness, coordination and musicality through age appropriate exercises and creative movement. A portion of the class will include basic tumbling work to increase upper body strength, coordination, and flexibility. Basic dance steps and proper terminology will be taught as well as proper classroom etiquette and appreciation for the art of dance
Pre-Dance II
4–5 years
60 Minute Class is limited to ten (10) students
Pre-Dance II is a continuation of Pre-Dance I, consisting of continued preparation for Pre-Ballet, while advancing the young child’s musicality, spatial awareness, body awareness, coordination, flexibility, and strength.
Ages 5–7
Combo Ballet/Tap I
5–6 years
90 Minute Class is limited to ten (10) students
Combo Ballet/Tap 1 program is an introduction to the Main and Recreational Ballet and Tap programs, which begin at age 7. The 90 minute class consists of a balanced Pre-Ballet and Tap curriculum. Ballet and Tap steps are taught at a recreational level, to enhance musical awareness and continue the development of coordination. The class is intended as a pressure free environment where the students can explore future interest in pursuing Ballet and Tap disciplines.
Combo Ballet/Tap II
6–7 years
90 Minute Class is limited to ten (10) students
Combo Ballet/Tap II program is a continuation of the Ballet/Tap 1 class with a similar curriculum taught at a faster pace with more complex concepts explored. This class is intended as a pressure free environment where the students can explore future interest in pursuing Ballet and Tap disciplines.
Combo Jazz/Gym I
5–6 years – Student must be in Kindergarten (no exceptions)
90 Minute Class is limited to ten (10) students
Combo Jazz/Gym I is an introduction to the Main and Recreational dance program, which begin at age 7. The class consists of a balanced Pre-Jazz and Acro program. Jazz and Acro are taught at a recreational level, to enhance musical awareness and continue development of coordination and flexibility. The class is intended as a pressure free environment where the students can explore future interest in pursuing Jazz and Acrobatics disciplines.
Combo Jazz/Gym II
6–7 Years – Student must be in First Grade (no exceptions)
90 Minute Class is limited to ten (10) students
Combo Jazz/Gym II program is a continuation of the Jazz/Gym I class with a similar curriculum taught at a faster pace with more complex concepts explored. This class is intended as a pressure free environment. Here the students can explore future interest in pursuing Jazz and Acrobatics disciplines
Main Dance Division
This division is to guide students interested in progressing to an advanced level of proficiency. Level placement is determined by age, ability and training requirements. These class recommendations also prepare the student physically and mentally for the opportunity to audition for and participate in the Atlantic Arts Academy Dance Performance Companies. ALL CLASS SIZES ARE LIMITED TO 15 STUDENTS TO ENSURE INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION.

Level IA
Basic Beginner Ballet Technique
2 ballet classes recommended
Jazz, Tap, and/or Hip Hop optional and recommended
Level IB
Beginner Ballet Technique
2 Ballet Classes recommended
Jazz, Tap, and/or Hip Hop optional and recommended
Level II
Advanced Beginner Technique
2 Ballet Classes Per Week Required.
Jazz, Tap, and/or Hip Hop optional and recommended
Level III
Intermediate Ballet Technique with Preparatory Pointe
3 Ballet and Pre-Pointe Classes Per Week Required.
4 Ballet Classes Per Week Strongly Recommended
Jazz Class Required
Tap and/or Hip Hop recommended
Level IV
Intermediate Advanced Ballet Technique & Adv Beg to Int. Pointe
3 Ballet and Pointe Classes and Per Week Are Required.
4 Ballet Classes Per Week Are Strongly Recommended

Level V
Advanced Ballet Technique and Advanced Pointe

Recreational Dance Division
This division is to guide students interested pursuing the performing arts actively as a hobby. The recreational dancer can enjoy the benefits of the cardiovascular workout, music appreciation, and artistic and emotional expression within their class and in the showcases at the end of the school year. ALL CLASS SIZES ARE LIMITED TO 15 STUDENTS TO ENSURE INDIVIDUAL ATTENTION
Recreational Classes are available in:
Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop
Children aged 7 – 12 will attend Levels IA, IB, and II.
Teens and Adults aged 13 and up will attend Open classes
(Level I Open classes will not participate in the showcases)
Level Placement and Advancement
The progress of each student is monitored continuously throughout the year by the faculty and the School Directors, who reserve the right to change a student’s level when appropriate. A student may be placed in a different level when changing between dance styles or disciplines. Students do not automatically advance to the next level at the end of each year.
